Abstract
Without leadership chaos would overtake the workplace and the world. Leadership is one’s ability to inspire, motivate and guide a group or team to the successful completion of a goal. A successful leader is not made overnight, it takes years of trial, error, learning and discovery for a leader to develop the skills that it takes to successfully lead others.
This paper is an examination of leadership styles used in today’s society, prepared through on-line research and comparison of the most popular leadership techniques, with special attention given to transactional and transformational leadership styles. The correlation between leadership and management is also studied, as well as an analysis of the effects of a leader on corporate culture. The study also is an analysis of leadership in healthcare, which style is most effective and which style provides the best patient outcomes.
