Relapse Triggers for Drug Addiction

Abstract

Although relapse is common and normal for recovering addicts, it is important to understand what leads to a relapse so that you can do everything necessary to avoid it. What triggers a relapse is different, depending on the individual. Emotional factors, such as stress, fear, frustration, depression, anxiety, and other emotions can lead to a relapse because drugs represent a coping mechanism for some individuals. Different types of drugs can trigger different kinds of responses.
