Project Title: Ergonomic Assessment in a Poultry Facility
This presentation will include an analysis of ergonomic issues at a poultry facility Pilgrim's Pride in Western Kentucky. Two members of OSH 663 Applied Workplace Ergonomics visited the site to evaluate potential ergonomic risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders in the whole bird marination department for cone loading, trussing, box packing, and stacking boxes using techniques including the such as the NIOSH Lifting Equation, Strain Index, ACGIH Hand Activity Level, and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment. An overview of the findings along with control recommendations for reducing ergonomic hazards will be presented.
