Aspiration is only necessary in the dorsogluteal site. Any medication that is not affected by IV injection does not require aspiration.
Conclusion
A policy should be made indicating when aspiration should specifically be used. Any injection in the dorsogluteal site or when opioids are being injected require aspiration.
