Abstract/Description

Miscommunication and nursing error during report is a growing issue and one that exists in every hospital in some form or fashion. Hospitals follow different policies as far as passing along vital information about each patient to the next shift. Some mandate that staff pass report at the bedside and others do not have a policy at all, just as long as the next shift knows what to do with their patients. There are multiple issues with passing report in other areas besides the bedside or right outside of the patient’s room. It is time every hospital adopts a policy for this in order to mark it off the list of possible, preventable things that could go wrong with a patient.
