Abstract/Description

- One of the biggest issues in the Murray community is substance and drug abuse. In our community we have a lot of college students and older people in the community that are disabled or retired. College students in our community strive very hard to graduate or to even complete a simple assignment. For some students, adderol and vyvanse is the trigger to get them to be motivated enough to do their work or to just complete college because it helps them focus on and complete their work. They also sometimes take Xanax to help them sleep through the night which also is very addicting to our community. The elderly and older population with disabilities or retired abuse the use of pills also because more than likely they will have some type of pain so they use pain pills for treatment and then it also becomes addicting. I want to use Photovoice to show the strengths and concerns of drug abuse in our community by presenting these photographs. The picture of the exchange of adderol and money just shows easy access to buy them. The other photo of the Behavioral Management, LLC shows a place where all alcoholics and drug abusers can come get help which is the only place I found in this community that helps our community with their bad drug abusing habits. We need to educate our community on the short-term and long-term effects of their habits and encourage and show them to make a changes they can make for their behavior to better their health.
