Abstract/Description

This evidence-based project explains the concepts of nurse residency programs and the increasing prevalence of their implementation in healthcare. The project incorporates factors in nursing care such as turnover rates, confidence, job satisfaction, quality of nursing care, skill level, and support. According to research that has been published on the topic of nurse residency programs, all of these factors are impacted by healthcare facility's training methods. This project is to be presented at a healthcare facility that currently does not have a nurse residency program implemented at this time. Therefore, the goal of this presentation is to promote the development and execution of a residency program as opposed to traditional orientation. In conclusion, research analysis revealed that nurse residency programs positively influence turnover rates, nurse confidence, job satisfaction, quality of nursing care, skill level, and support.
