Abstract/Description
When a person is diagnosed with diabetes, they begin to work with all kinds of doctors, specialists, and therapists. These healthcare professionals will drown the patient in information that will soon leave them frustrated and feeling out of control. When a different kind of communication technique is introduced to the patient, asking “What are your goals that we can help you achieve?,” patients will feel respected and be able to take back the control. This project presents the importance of motivational interviewing and how to implement it into the hospital setting.
