Abstract/Description
The problem investigated in the Evidence-Based Research Project is how to increase compliance of proper hand hygiene among healthcare professionals. The purpose is to expand on knowledge that the healthcare team already has regarding hand hygiene and build on this knowledge in order to increase the compliance rate. In this research project, the Environmental Theory and the Health Promotion Model was used to understand how one's environment can affect their health. The research showed the alarmingly low rate of compliance within institutions everywhere. In conclusion, hand hygiene is still a hot topic in the research field because it is one way of reducing infections within the hospital, yet professionals are not compliant.
