Abstract/Description

The purpose of this project was to determine the effects of lavender essential oil aromatherapy on anxiety level, pain perception, and sleep quality in hospitalized patients. Lavender aromatherapy has been clinically proven by multiple randomized controlled trials to decrease anxiety level, decrease pain perception, and increase quality of sleep amongst patients in various hospital settings. Aromatherapy is an inexpensive, noninvasive, natural, and simple intervention which can be implemented for most patients, by nurses, in almost any setting.
