Abstract/Description

The purpose of this research is to promote best practice, while reducing patient pain in intramuscular injections. A compilation of randomized-control-trial studies was analyzed to evaluate the effect of manual pressure with and without an assistive device on patient pain. The results of these studies suggest that the use of manual pressure before an intramuscular injection decreased patient post-injection pain.
