Abstract

Ina Mae Franklin discusses social, educational and occupational patterns in the Land Between the Lakes region of Stewart County, Tennessee. She also discusses home crafts, farm chores and the role of the church in community affairs. Franklin describes rivalries among Methodist churches, quarterly conferences and other social functions at which adults and young people could mingle. She mentions box suppers, pie suppers, popcorn ball parties and molasses candy pulling. She outlines the details of her education in the local schools and in Dover High School She also discusses the Fort Henry School and the Fort Henry Community.
