Abstract

Thomas Lee Askew discusses the history of Stewart County, Tennessee. He describes northern troops occupying Dover, Tennessee during the Civil War, details on the activities of the Night Riders in southern Tennessee and the arrival of the Tennessee Valley Authority into Land Between the Lakes region. He also mentions farming methods and equipment used in the region and religious sects and churches in Tennessee.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Askew family arrived in Stewart County, Tennessee in 1828 from North Carolina. Thomas Lee Askey was a resident of Land Between the Lakes near Model, Tennessee.
