Abstract
James B. Curd describes his life in Calloway County, Kentucky during the first half of the 20th Century. He discusses his childhood and attending rural one room schools, the impact of the First World War to the region and the community's growth in the 1920s. He also reflects upon the economic troubles of the 1930s, President Roosevelt's "New Deal" to provide relief for the region and the community's struggles during Second World War.
