Project Title
Display Behavior in Male Siamese Fighting Fish in the Presence and Absence of a Female
Project Abstract
This study will be focusing on the competitive display behaviors of male siamese fighting fish (bettas) in the presence and absence of a female. Male bettas are known to be extremely competitive and territorial when interacting with other males, so much so that they fight to the death when sharing an aquarium. I predict that males will be more active when a female is present than when a female is absent because they are now competing not just to defend their territory, but also a potential mate.
