Abstract/Description
Achieving a sustainable future has gained popularity since the Brundtland Commission published its report, in 1987, calling for nations to take actions on different developmental issues (WCED,1987). Coined by the Brundtland Commission report, sustainable development is “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Estron Chemical was established in 1076 by Dr. Stanislaw Skora. Estron Chemical is involved in the powder coating industry and has set the standard in the industry for many powder coating products. This company has recently placed sustainability at the top of their priorities and values. The discovery of sustainable alternatives to plastics, the collection of temperature data, the creation of company policies, the creation of company key performance indicators (KPI’s) and the submission of EcoVadis for company status were all projects worked on during a three-month period. This experience gives insight into sustainability issues faced in a chemical production setting.
