Abstract/Description

This presentation will include an analysis of ergonomic issues at a local retail grocery store located in Murray Kentucky. Three students of the OSH 663 Applied Workplace Ergonomic class visited this site to evaluate for potential ergonomic risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders in tasks such as the breaking down of a fully loaded pallet, cutting and slicing of various meat products, and loading and pulling of carts using techniques such as: NIOSH Lifting Equation, 2D Biomechanics, Strain Index. An overview of the findings along with recommended controls for reducing ergonomic hazards will be presented.
