Abstract/Description

Pressure injuries are still a problem for patients and facilities across the United States. Hospital acquired pressure injuries affect approximately 2.5 million patients per year, which can lead to unnecessary pain for patients and increased costs for hospitals (Padula, 2017). Recently, the use of pressure injury prevention strategies, including the use of prophylactic dressings, has been implemented into hospitals. Three articles examine the effectiveness of prophylactic multi-layer silicone foam dressings in preventing sacral pressure injuries.
