- Evidence-based research shows that the routine use of supplemental oxygen may not always be necessary
- A current standing policy at a local hospital begins all patients receiving epidural or spinal anesthesia on oxygen upon arrival to the post-anesthesia care unit.
- An update to the current policy could save the hospital and patient money and resources while also decreasing the length of patient stay.
