Many patients in the acute care setting are at risk for falls, which jeopardizes their safety while in the hospital. Falls cause many injuries in the acute care setting and can prolong the healing process along with discharge. Each hospital has their own individualized standards regarding fall prevention and we compared different hospitals fall prevention policies to see if some are more effective than others. The main differences in hospitals fall prevention strategies we found was placing a yellow fall risk bracelet on the patient, placing a fall risk sign on their door, and completing a written checklist of fall prevention strategies.By making these changes to the hospitals fall prevention strategies, it can help decrease the risk of falls and injuries sustained after a fall.
