Abstract/Description

The purpose of this project is to conduct research on equine asthma, an inflammatory lower airway respiratory disease of horses, in addition to completing a survey at various veterinary clinics across the nine climate regions of the United States. The aim of the survey is to include a diverse population of horses across the climate regions to enable a comprehensive analysis of different disease aspects and their relation to the prevalence and severity of equine asthma on a larger geographic scale. The differences between the recognized forms, barn-associated asthma and summer pasture-associated asthma, and the process of diagnosis, treatment options, and management of equine patients with the disease will also be covered.
