Abstract/Description
This presentation uses evidence based research to support the use of non-traditional birthing positions in the hospital setting. The research shows that maternal comfort is increased and the risk of newborn birth trauma is decreased when mothers delivery in positions other than lithotomy. It is our hope that through the creation of our policy, maternal input will be more valued during labor and comfort will be prioritized.
