Abstract/Description
Impulsivity is consistently associated with an increase in substance use and abuse (O'Leary et al., 2014; Phillips et al., 2018). This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the relationship between impulsivity and perceptions of marijuana. The purpose of this study is to explore the association of impulsivity as a character trait and positive perceptions and experiences of using marijuana. It is hypothesized that impulsivity is associated with positive expectations of using marijuana. By looking at this association, we can gain more insight into the precursors of addiction and risk factors for substance use. Such knowledge can inform development of interventions aimed at impulsive people to challenge positive perceptions and hopefully mitigate substance use and abuse.
