Abstract
Emperor Justinian represents the point in which the Roman Empire would shift into the Byzantine Empire. He continued many of his predecessor’s traditions. Maintained that the empire must focus on the west/the Mediterranean like his predecessors. Justinian’s successors would be more focused on the East and would lose the lands reclaimed during his restoration.
