Diabetes Mellitus
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide information about diabetes mellitus. The term, "diabetes", traces back 3000 years ago when Egyptians connected the effects of urine: how frequently certain animals were urinating, how it made their muscles deteriorate, as well as, the animals themselves, and the reaction that ants had regarding the urine. In 1889, two other well-known scientists connected the pancreas function with diabetes. There are currently three types of diabetes: gestational, type 1 and type 2.
