Abstract
The Head Start Program began after President Lyndon B. Johnson declared The War on Poverty in 1964. Education services for school readiness focuses on the children’s abilities in approaches to learning, social and emotional development, language and literacy, cognition, and perceptual, motor, and physical development. Performance standards outline the minimum acceptable practices to providing health and family services. The Head Start Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Framework is a research-based guide for implementing program performance standards. Agency information is listed for Audubon Area Community Services Head Start, a Head Start Program in Western Kentucky. The impact of Head Start can be found in the conclusion of a study done by the US Department of Health and Human Services from 2002 through 2006.
