Title

Effects of PED'S on Athletes Performance and Health

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to inform the reader of the various risks athletes take to improve their performance while taking performance-enhancing drugs. With society placing such a significant emphasis on an athlete's performance, many players feel that the only way to get ahead in their particular sport is to take various performance-enhancing drugs. This study will identify the most commonly used performance drugs athletes take in their specific sports and the possible effects those drugs have on their health and performance. With the amount of money that some professional athletes make, young athletes will often begin taking performance-enhancing drugs at the high school level, hoping that they will get recruited by a top-tier college. Athletes understand that their performance will be scrutinized from an early age if they ever want to play professionally. Because of this, many athletes sacrifice their health and reputation to make this dream a reality. In the end, the vast majority of athletes not only fail to make it to the next level but they are left with health issues they may have difficulty recovering from.
