Stressors and Considerations for Improving Human Service Environments
Abstract
It is important to understand the issues associated with the human service field and considerations for how to fix them. Various studies have been conducted on individuals who work in the human service field to identify causes of burnout, turnover, negativity, mental exhaustion, job strain, and mental illness. When management can identify the problems their employees face, they can intervene and improve work conditions to better suit the organization, to help prevent burnout and turnover within the workplace. When an organization focuses on the overall health of their employees and coping mechanisms to improve their health, then the organization continues to improve. Employees are more likely to successfully complete their assigned duties and serve customers effectively when they have good overall health and beneficial resources.
