The History of American Pop & Its Influence on Culture
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to educate on the history of American popular music and its impact on culture with the basis that music is one of the most important influences on culture today. The ultimate goal is to educate the public on the history of their country and the entertainment that exists within it. It is important that we continue to research, document, and educate on the history of not just music but all forms of culture to further educate ourselves understand our peers, and expand our knowledge on the struggles, successes, and influences that the past has on today. Starting in the post-Civil War Era and in minstrelsy shows covering the influential artists, genres, and events of the time leading to the present day will show how the human element changed the music industry while also showing the advancements that technology also helped in terms of bringing American popular music to the public on not just a national scale but global as well.
