From The Diamond to the Jobsite: How Sports Prepares Athletes for Success in the Construction Industry
Abstract
Participation in sports holds key skills and a foundation that directly translates to success in the construction industry. Sports develop leadership skills, time management, and effective communication which go hand in hand thriving in construction project management. Additionally, teamwork, discipline, and work ethic in sports mirror the collaborative and high-stakes nature of the construction field. Key attributes like problem-solving and adaptability, goal setting, physical and mental toughness, and perseverance are also explored, emphasizing their relevance to overcoming challenges in the construction industry workplace. There are many similarities that connect sports and the construction industry overlapping that make the transition easier and more successful.
