Autism: The Ever Growing Spectrum
Abstract
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) refers to a range of conditions characterized by difficulties in communication, social interaction, and repetitive behaviors. This study leverages advanced deep learning algorithms to analyze large-scale brain imaging data and identify neural patterns associated with ASD using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). The primary objective was to classify psychiatric disorders through unsupervised machine learning (Di Martino et al., 2014) based on brain activity. The secondary aim was to pinpoint specific neural connectivity patterns unique to individuals with ASD. This paper highlights the potential of Life Skills classrooms in fostering independence, social integration, and emotional well-being for young individuals on the spectrum. Early interventions and customized educational strategies emerge as pivotal in enhancing the lives of those with autism (National Autism Association), underscoring the intricate nature of this neurodevelopmental condition.
