EMPOWERING STUDENTS: PUBLIC SCHOOL LIBRARIES
Abstract
This research paper investigates the impact of a properly equipped library with a fulltime librarian has on the student body and school climate as a whole. The purpose of this research paper is to evaluate the connection between the results of providing students with all the tools and technology in the library and student growth. The research combines two semester of research done online and with books in the public library. The findings reveals a significant correlation between student success with an emphasis higher standardized test scores and a well-stocked library with a fulltime librarian. The result suggest a need for new up to date technology, community outreach with parent involvement and a fully staffed librarian particularly but limited to at risk and low income students.
