Girl Out of Place

Abstract

Girl Out of Place is a collection of eight creative nonfiction essays linked by eight interchapters. The essays are a memoir of growing up in two diverse cultures and explore the discovery of place and its relationship to heritage and belonging. The essays span time and location, taking the reader to moments in the old Polish neighborhood of Lagrinska, to Jerusalem, Israel, and to the modern-day weekly commute from Clarksville to Nashville, Tennessee.
