Abstract
Student Support Teams (SST) are designed to be an innovative practice that supports the diverse needs of learners to help learners grow and be successful. This study will look at the impact that SSTs have on students in the Intermediate grades (3rd-6th Grade) at a Title I at-risk school. The research will analyze this question, does an SST positively impact student growth in reading and math in a highly diversified Title I School? The goal of the study is to analyze the impact of SST on the academic growth of students in specific focus groups. The study will analyze all students in grades 3rd-6th at a Title I school. There will be focus groups in each grade level that will participate in SST to help learners achieve in reading and math. Focus groups will be specifically chosen based on academic performance and teacher recommendations. The study will analyze quantitative data in reading and math. The researcher will utilize the Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessments universal screener as a pre-and post-test in reading and math. The study will ensure that each diverse need of the students is being met, that the SST is innovative with their implementation, and that the research and team are building leaders within their school building and student leaders.
