Abstract
This study was designed to determine the concurrent validity of the Missouri Adaptive Ability Scale (MAAS), a new measure of independent functioning and learning, by correlating it with the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales—Third Edition (VABS-III). Thirty participants (M = 11.0 years; SD = 4.1 years) were administered the MAAS and VABS-III. Kendall-Tau tests yielded moderate-to-strong correlations across all aspects of the MAAS, indicating good concurrent validity. The implications and limitations are discussed.
