Family, Coaching, and Retirement (1970-2012)

After 394 games, 11 seasons, and 4 different teams from 1957 to 1970, Hawk Taylor retired from professional baseball. However, much of Hawk’s life was spent not in the stadium, but with his family—with his wife Marie, and sons Bruce and Sam.

Winding down his years in professional baseball playing in Kentucky for the Colonels, Hawk decided to further his education, receiving both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Murray State University in exchange for his time as an assistant coach under the legendary Johnny Reagan. He coached for some time at other institutions, including Paducah Community College and Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee.

Hawk kept up with his old teammates, returning to Milwaukee for several reunions of the 1957 World Series-winning team.
