Abstract
Hugh Melugin discusses his experiences during World War I. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1918 and was sent Camp Taylor, Kentucky. His job at Camp Taylor was to manage the payroll and other clerical duties. Melugin mentions how he anticipated going overseas, but never was offered the opportunity. He recalls there not being many noticeable changes in Calloway County during his time in the service. However, he was surprised to find the increase of women in the workforce. He also tells how the automobile had come into popularity following the war. He concludes the interview by telling what it was like to live during the war years.
