19th Annual Korea-America Student Conference (KASC 19) Roundtable Research Project and Presentation
Project Abstract
The Korea America Student Conference (KASC) is an annual conference hosted by International Student Conferences (ISC) as part of a global effort to better the relationship between South Korea and the United States of America. Since 2008, candidates from South Korea and the United States are selected to participate in this conference. Throughout the program, delegates are organized into roundtables based around a topic of global discussion. Each of this year's four roundtables combine global issues with cultural conversations between the United States and South Korea. At the end of the program, roundtables will present their research and findings at the final forum.
This year, the Korea America Student Conference will be hosted in three U.S. cities: San Francisco, New Orleans, and Washington D.C., where delegates will use their environments to learn more about the topic their roundtables are presenting on. Delegates often tour government buildings, private research institutes, and cultural heritage sites -- most of which are not open to the general public. The research complied this year from around the United States will inform the delegates and further their research studies.
KASC is unique in the way it is organized: entirely by students. Former delegates were selected to be on KASC 19's executive committee. Each member of the executive committee has a roundtable they are in charge of leading. This year, the roundtable topics are: "Cultural Diplomacy, Art, Media, and Soft Power," "Navigating Independence in International Business and Economics," "Powering Tomorrow: Energy Policy and Nuclear Cooperation," and "Shaping Tomorrow: Technology and Artificial Intelligence". Together, these topics work to create a strong foundation for cultural and global diplomacy between the United States and South Korea.
The research founded and realized by KASC is necessary for cross-cultural connections and communication. It's through conferences like KASC that innovation and transformation work together to create a realized tomorrow. As the next generation of change is led by our youth, KASC aims to spearhead these hopes to the forefront of the conversation.
