Mid America Print Conference 2026: Printelligence
Project Abstract
The 2026 Mid America Print Council (MAPC) biennial national conference Printelligence is taking place October 7-10th, 2026, at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. MAPC provides innovative demonstrations from acclaimed artists, vital connections and information regarding graduate programs, panels and lectures regarding contemporary issues in printmaking, as well as direct portfolio feedback that are vital to shaping the practices and careers of attending students.
We will be under the guidance of MSU Faculty, Nicole Hand and Lu Colby, throughout the conference. We will be participating in an open portfolio session during the conference where students will exhibit their portfolio and talk about the design and conceptual elements of their work. This experience will provide us with formative commentary from other artists. Additionally, students will participate in a national print exchange that will be exhibited at Louisiana State University during the conference. Two of the prints from each student's edition will be added to the permanent collections of Louisiana State University, and MAPC.
At this conference Murray State Printmaking students will deepen their understanding of the complex history of printmaking, and how that influences contemporary practices. They will engage in research conducted on sustainable practices, and learn how to apply that to their own craft. They will also engage critically with their own and other artists' portfolios.
