Abstract/Description
A health issue that I am passionate about and wish to raise awareness about to make a difference in Murray is increase obesity due to food choices and low gym attendance. I would like to change the way people eat fast food. My first picture is a picture of the outside drive through at McDonald’s during lunch hour. I believe this is a barrier because there are many cars at the drive through order lanes. People are eating on the go; thus they are not spending time sitting down to enjoy the food they are consuming. This situation happens because either they don’t have time to sit and eat or they just don’t want to. This relates to my health issue because people don’t have the time to sit and eat a healthy meal or even plan a meal of their own. This is effecting the community negatively because as time goes on people are getting comfortable with eating on the go. My second picture is a picture of the wellness center. On the inside of the wellness center I saw people engaging in physical activities. These people are ultimately changing the outcome of their lives in a positive manner. This is because physical activity can do more good than harm to the human body. This picture relates to my topic because wellness is a free facility to a large part of the Murray community which is the student population. Between the hours of 4-6 the gym gets most of its members and other times the gym can look like a ghost town or be a bit quitter than the library. I believe this is an asset because despite what unhealthy meal one has ate that day, week or month one can work it off at wellness or any of local gyms in Murray. They offer resources to help those in need of help and motivation to get their life in a healthy state.
