Abstract/Description

This presentation reviews the effectiveness of music therapy on decreasing the anxiety in patients with dementia. Music therapy is a relatively new intervention that is being implemented in health care all over the world. Music therapy offers a safe and effective way to offer relief to both the patient and their family. This presentation seeks to answer the question: Can music therapy be beneficial in decreasing anxiety in patients with dementia? After reviewing literature, there may be a correlation between music therapy and decreased levels of anxiety, especially in patients with mild to moderate dementia.
