Pet therapy is a growing form of complementary medicine seen in hospital settings as well as settings such as disaster relief, airports, and schools. The benefits of integrating this form of therapy, as well as examples of research studies regarding the topic and implementation of pet therapy are outlined and discussed. Outlines of how pet therapy works as well as the cost behind implementing pet therapy are also included. Pet therapy is a simple way to brighten someone’s day while they are staying at a hospital, nursing home, or hospice facility.
