Abstract/Description

Kentucky has been a part of the National Honey Bee Health Survey since 2015. This national survey is a comprehensive examination of colony health throughout apiaries in the United States. The primary purpose of this survey is to monitor for the presence or absence of threats to honey bee colonies. Dr. Tammy Potter the Kentucky State Apiarist manages Kentucky’s collection process every year. Instructed by videos and detailed instructions each sample is taken carefully and the same way by Dr. Potter ensuring that Kentucky has an accurate analysis of the health of its honey bees.
