Abstract/Description

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the human body’s response to an infection. This infection may come from a variety of sources and people of all ages are susceptible to it. The end result of sepsis is usually the shutting down of the organs, beginning with the lungs and ending with the heart stopping. The main key to fighting sepsis lies not in improving the treatment itself but in the awareness and prevention of it. Quicker recognition times of sepsis has been linked to more favorable patient outcomes. Sepsis education is extremely important to decrease the mortality rates of this condition. This study focuses on the effects of an educational session about sepsis on the knowledge of college students. The hypothesis being tested is that hosting an educational session will statistically significantly increase the knowledge of sepsis of college students.
