Abstract/Description

S.T.E.M. education, the idea of adding emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, in schools, has been changed to S.T.E.A.M. education. Though most would consider the “a” for “arts” to be out of place, adding the arts to S.T.E.M can allow educators to reach a broader audience of students, while still enhancing the initial goals of S.T.E.M. In this thesis, I will shed light on how each discipline of S.T.E.M. can be made better with the arts in a middle school setting by teaching science in the form of humanities, technology in the form of studio art, engineering in the form of theater, and math in the form of music.
