Abstract/Description
There are several ways that a healthcare professional can reduce fear and pain when it comes to needlesticks in children. Numbing, distraction, positioning for comfort, and relaxation are common ways to decrease pain. In this project several techniques are discussed, both pharmacological and nonpharmacological, that can be used before performing a needle stick on your pediatric patient. Implementing these techniques is important when it comes to reducing pain and distress in pediatric patients. By resolving these issues, it is possible to promote positive outcomes in pediatric patients.
