Abstract/Description
Social media can have a huge effect on the mental health of Formula One drivers. The media has a fine line between fans and the athletes, allowing a direct contact between the two. This means that all things said about or towards the athlete is read by the athlete themselves. Hurtful content can really affect the athletes mental health and cause them to be insecure and lose the confidence in themselves that drive the effort that they put into their sport. A single comment on the internet can affect how an entire gameplay is played.
Media Theories also affect the Media on how the drivers and team are portrayed. The Hypothermic Needle Theory conditions people to believe that why the media says is true, so even if the media influencers state their opinion online, others will follow. This can cause individuals or even masses to believe that a driver or team is or is not a motivated athlete.
The main takeaway should be to always be respectful when posting on the internet. Being disrespectful can only cause harm to others and affect their quality of life. Always be mindful of what you post on the internet, especially if it is towards someone else.
