Abstract/Description

This evidence-based practice project explored structured group activities to support cognitive engagement, social interaction, and well-being among assisted living and memory care residents with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Drawing on cognitive stimulation, reminiscence, and Montessori-based care, recommendations included music, memory games, creative activities, and meaningful daily tasks adapted to residents’ interests and abilities. Staff education emphasized supportive prompts, resident choice, and assistance to encourage participation, independence, dignity, and person-centered care.
