Abstract/Description
The purpose of this project is to bring attention to the benefits of using a policy that encourages education and training to help reduce occurrence of Needle stick injuries in the nursing workplace. NSIs are estimated to affect over 74% of all nurses. This is coupled with the risk of transmission of a disease like HIV or Hepatitis. I conducted a literature review of of scholarly research articles that related to the topics of NSIs and interventions to prevent them when researching for this project. After reading the interventions, I complied different methods used in prevention together to formulate a policy for hospital practice. I then discussed several ways to help implement this policy following its approval.
