Abstract/Description
The overall purpose of this study was to find evidence that supports the procedure of placing a patient in a prone position if they have Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). I reviewed multiple different research articles that all suggest this procedure to be effective in the treatment of ARDS. In the evidence, they show a decrease in the mortality rate of the patients who were placed in the prone position versus those who stayed in the supine position. I have come up with a recommendation and a policy that can be used in facilities as a guideline in the treatment of this illness.
